Here are some ideas, but you will have to figure out your wife's general preferences to see what she would like most.
Story Oriented Games - Adventure games or turn-based RPGs with a heavy story focus. You can play together and take turns with the controller. Examples: Dragon Quest 9, Undertale, Final Fantasy 6-10, old LucasArts games like Secret of Monkey Island
Local Co-op Games - NSMB is great. Castle Crashers is a good one. I haven't played River City Girls, but I believe that is good. Any old beat'em up like Double Dragon or Golden Axe. Make sure to stick with a game that has relatively simple controls on this.
Rhythm Games - Just Dance or Rock Band come to mind, but there are plenty of rhythm games out there. Cadence of Hyrule has simple controls too.
Local Competitive - Pick something with simple controls like Wii Sports, Mario Kart or Puyo Puyo Tetris.
