Basically, the mathematical problem which Google claimed to solve much faster is merely severely memory-starved, and using hard drive disks to complement RAM speeds up the application on a conventional supercomputer to less than three days - and probably much faster if the memory bottleneck could be dealt with.

Either way, no need to prepare your wallet for anything, since I doubt there are many algorythms in gaming etc. that would ever benefit from quantum speedup. Quantum computers aren't quite "the same thing, but faster" in the way transistors were compared to vacuum tubes.
