Monday news, part two:

A new trailer for The 13th Doll showcases some very '90s FMV acting
https://www.pcgamer.com/a-new-trailer-for-the-13th-doll-showcases-some-very-90s-fmv-acting/
The 13th Doll is a fan-made followup to the 1993 FMV adventure classic The 7th Guest, which rang up more than $60,000 in a successful 2015 Kickstarter campaign. That's not much of a budget for a videogame production, but you don't have to pay volunteers, who have helped get this fan project close to the finish line. After missing a release planned for Halloween 2018, Attic Door Productions said today that it will come out, for sure this time, on Halloween 2019.
>> Despite being a fan.made game, I'm posting it here and not in the mods like the Stalker game because this game will have to be purchased ($30), and not available for free.

It appears that there were some issues with the Dota 2 matchmaking rating changes that were rolled out in September. Valve said in its latest Dota 2 blog post that "some players, especially at the high end, have experienced a significant drop in matchmaking quality as a result of our recent iterations," and so it's made further changes to the system in the most recent game update.

Gearbox has finally stopped nerfing Borderlands 3's robot vault hunter FL4K. After two nerfs in as many weeks, the developer has decided it went too far, and is partially rolling back a recent change to FL4K's Leave No Trace skill, which has a chance to return ammo to the player's magazine when they land a critical hit.

Daybreak Games makes multiple layoffs, including on Planetside Arena team
https://www.pcgamer.com/daybreak-games-makes-multiple-layoffs-including-on-planetside-arena-team/
Daybreak Games has laid off multiple employees, including some that were working on battle royale Planetside Arena, which went into Early Access last month. The scale of the layoffs at the H1Z1 and Planetside 2 studio is not yet clear, but one developer who lost his job said multiple teams had been hit, while Planetside Arena's lead designer said his team had "lost some really good people today".
>> Never good news.

https://www.pcgamer.com/multiplayer-focused-cybperunk-game-a-possibility-says-senior-cd-projekt-red-developer/
We know that Cyberpunk 2077 will eventually have multiplayer—but if CD Projekt Red's Krakow office head John Mamais gets his way, it won't be the last time players jump into the Cyberpunk universe with their friends. He told GameSpot that the possibility of a multiplayer-focused game in the universe remains open, adding that he's hoping to make more Cyberpunk games in future.

Dead Space was built from the bones of Tiger Woods PGA Tour
https://www.pcgamer.com/dead-space-was-built-from-the-bones-of-tiger-woods-pga-tour/
Dead Space's Isaac Clarke has popped up in some unlikely places over the years: when he's not been cutting up monsters on mining ships you might've spotted him on the links in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, running the floor in NBA Jam: On Fire Edition or grinding rails in Skate 3. These crossovers, usually in the form of character outfits, have always felt bizarre, but in Tiger Woods' case it turns out Clarke had a good reason to feel right at home with a driver in hand.

https://www.pcgamer.com/terra-invicta-the-strategy-game-from-xcoms-long-war-modders-gets-first-trailer/
The modders behind brilliant XCOM mods Long War and Long War 2—which Tom called "a must-play reinvention of XCOM 2"—formed their own studio in 2015 and announced their first full game: Terra Invicta. Now, four years later, they've released the game's first trailer, which runs you through what to expect from the grand strategy space game.

Fortnite's entire map sucked into black hole, game down as mysterious stream begins
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-season-x-event/
Fortnite's latest in-game event ended with whatever the opposite of a big bang is, erasing the map from existence. As the countdown to 'The End', as teased by Epic earlier this month, finished up, the new rocket built over the course of the season launched, flew through a rift, and seemingly duplicated itself dozens of times over via some wacky time loop logic.

Apex Legends' Charge Rifle will be nerfed soon
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-charge-rifle-will-be-nerfed-soon/
If you've dropped into Apex Legends since the start of Season 3 then you'll know the new Charge Rifle energy sniper is pretty damned good. When you squeeze the trigger it fires a hitscan laser, and a second or so later it fires a single powerful shot: you can deal up to 90 damage in total. Many players have complained that it's OP, and Respawn appears to agree: the game's future update Trello board shows that a "Charge Rifle weapon balance" is in the works.

Apex Legends' training mode is getting some love soon
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-training-mode-is-getting-some-love-soon/
Apex Legends' training mode doesn't currently give you a whole lot to work with, offering only a basic tutorial and a place to quickly test what you've learned before jumping into your first match. "By popular request," however, the training ground is getting an update, turning it into a place that's worth a revisit.

Microsoft Flight Simulator could get VR support because of fan feedback
https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-could-get-vr-support-because-of-fan-feedback/
Microsoft Flight Simulator looks like the kind of game you'd want to stick a VR headset on for, even if you're not that infatuated with virtual reality, but VR apparently wasn't part of the plan until the team saw the reaction to the E3 trailer.
>> Well, flicht and racing sims seem to be the perfect games to have VR, so it would be great if they added it.

Match-3 meets the RTS in this free browser game
https://www.pcgamer.com/match-3-meets-the-rts-in-this-free-browser-game/
Free browser game little BEETLE bottle BATTLE (punctuation the developer's own) takes the classic match-3 concept and turns it on its head. While one of your goals is still to match three of various things together, you might want to stop and think before you shove those castle tiles, or those forest ones together, as every action will have a knock-on effect—and I'm not just talking about the other tiles.
