Most games don't have them. I could go down the list of all the games released on Opencritic in the last 90 days. Only a handful have them. As far as I'm concerned once a game gets MTX the series is dead to me. Games that are designed to play on your psychological weaknesses to get more money out of you aren't good games. Games like that are no longer designed to be fun, but rather they are designed to be compelling, and have unbearable levels of grind.

As far as large AAA games go, most have MTX in some form. It all comes down to how they implement them. Every MTX in Gears 5 is cosmetic and has zero effect on gameplay. Nothing in the store can be grinded for because it's only offered through the store. All post launch content like, new maps and map editor pieces, won't cost anything.

Except you can buy in-game currency to cycle daily challenges to make this Tour of Duty grind much faster and easier. And it is indeed a grind that forces you to play modes you don't want (or use money to cycle challenges) to eventually unlock something.

Not to mention how laughable their "content" of emblems & bloodsprays are. "Most content any Gears game ever had" they said..while technically true, it's mostly those bloodsprays 'n stuff. Geez..

I don't think all mtx is bad. I recently spend 20€ on Sea of Thieves because they added tons of free content for a year and a half before even offering mtx.

But TC delivered a broken game and have the nerve to offer these predatory microtransactions. 10€ for a character? What, 30€ for a full weapon skin se? gtfo..
