You know, to all of you saying that the OP is lying, perhaps you should not be so hasty to write this off as a troll attack - this includes those of you insinuating false claims with phrases such as "if you are telling the truth".

When my PS3 stopped reading discs, I DID ask a similar question in the SONY forums, and I was instantly labled as an X-Bot and a troll. Well, I did send it in and it was repaired. Still, why are some people so quick to dismiss these posts. The PS3 can fail just like every other piece of electronics.

I swear some people here must own some serious stock in Sony Corp. or something, otherwise this is just sad.

People arent weary beacuse his Ps3 died they are questioning his motives by what he is saying

Examples:

So much for Sony superiority.

DAMMIT!!  Shoulda just upgraded my computer ...

I am also less forgiving as this is not a launch day system--the PS3 has now been out for about 18 months!

When I purchased my first HDTV it was a Samsung 40" 1080p LCD set.  I spent close to $1500 at the time.  As soon as I got the brand new TV home I hooked up my X360 and noticed the colors were all screwed up.  A technician came out that week and low and behold I had a bad HDMI port on the TV.  I returned the TV to Best Buy for an identical model.  Got that home and guess what?  2 dead pixels stuck blue on the screen.  I was understandably pissed and said things a lot less polite then he did.  I don't have a Samsung set in my house anymore either.

Moral of the story?

I don't blame him for one bit for the cheap shots.  I just find it hilarious people are so defensive about their "console of choice" they have to deride somebody who is having legitimate problems.  Maybe I'm not so cynical that people have hidden motives out to damage the reputation of your favorite console but I could give a rats ass if somebody wants to vent their frustrations on a bad system whether it be from MS, Sony, or Ninty.
