A whale mentality of fewer and few games and need for massive sales increases risk. It also leads people to misread the health of an industry if a companies are losing money and closing but a GTA V does really well. People think the industry is saved. It is more like someone is grabbing the glory of being the last remaining survivor on the Titanic.
It is now, that the industry has whales on the mind. They want to find games that get a few top players spending a ton of money, rather than appeal to smaller, and get a single game to drive all the online play to. If you are late to a game, and try to enter a space, you are likely not going to take off. If Battle Royale took out CliffyB, who else will it take out? Next up is Autobattlers.
I want to develop a base of players who play a range of game competitively, so there is no one point of collapse. Anyhow, more details for another time. I look forward to starting some threads on this when I hit the posting threshold. I am not wanting to spam posts just to get there.
And this is an edit of my post prior.
