Uncharted 2 doesn't require uncharted 1 to understand 99% of the story.

Yakuza 6 doesn't need any of the other 6 before it for you to understand that game. But they put a summary of all the others for you to recap or at least have better ambience.

So if they make 3 full titles of FFVII with each being fully understandable within itself and with recaps to tie down all would have what you want.

After you play the remake them your conclusions may be right. You are coming from what you played to say it can't be done while you would need to see what was done to determine if it's possible to understand any of them alone.
