I think something people misunderstand about FROM games is that they aren't hard because they're cheap. They're hard because they're obtuse and that can be good or bad. FROM's Souls-like games aren't designed with the typical game design we've become accustomed to in other games (rule of 3, standard obvious path, item names hinting at their purpose, grinding for levels/resources being a bigger factor in your progress, etc.) and so people have a hard time with them; myself included at first. But I've found a lot of joy in jumping into these games and learning how they work because it forces me to do things that I don't have to do much of in other games. That sense of learning and exploration excites some gamers, while the burden of having to learn it all while it hides itself away turns other gamers away.

In addition, the combat itself is not a spectacle to behold. You aren't doing massive combos. It's very technical and basic. The mechanics are hard to come to terms to while being as simple as two attack buttons. In Bloodborne's case in particular, the atmosphere wasn't my cup of tea. I much prefer Dark Souls 3's aesthetic, combat, story, and music.

At the end of it all. it's not my job or anyone elses' to convince anyone to like it. You are totally entitled to your own opinion and it's fine you don't like it. I played it and enjoyed it enough and felt the game got easier once I came to terms with the mechanics through the Father Gascoigne fight. I beat the majority of bosses after him within 3 tries and the final boss on my first. I'd even say I also loved NG1 and NG2 more than Bloodborne, but the appeal of Bloodborne definitely didn't pass me by and I'd definitely say its sister series in Dark Souls is one of my favourites in all of gaming. Just wanted to share my thoughts on why you possibly didn't like it as much as others have.

Engaging post, you make many valid points, i did get a sense of getting lost a lot, i know its slower than your typical hack 'n' slash, and yes, slaying one of those BIG bosses is undoubtedly rewarding, Nioh got me in to the "more RPG type" hack and slashers, the setting of bloodbourne is SUPERB, getting lost doesnt bother me either, i guess overall, i was hoping for more sleeker and faster gameplay with bosses that truly enthralled me, but for someone who works 12 hours a day including a 3 hour round trip, its not connected with me fully. i bought Dark souls 3 recently, but when i will start it, i dont know if i will be able to commit to it, time is precious afterall. appreciate your detailed input
