So many assumptions here.

Repeat of the PS3 ~ Nothing suggests that, especially when we don't have a price.

I expect a lot of Sony fans to be disappointed during 2021 and 2022 ~ Again, no clue what the price will be and this omits Xbox fans for some odd reason.

Switch will be $200-$300 with a huge library of games ~ Previous machines of gens past were also cheaper next to launch consoles (PS4 specifically).

Sure, at $500, the machines could start a little slow, but it is an understatement to claim that a 'repeat of the PS3' is grossly exaggerated and based on nothing.

1) Assumptions - That is the pot calling the kettle black.

2) Price - We don't have one.  Most agree it will be $500+.  Are you disagreeing that PS5 will be in the $500 range?  What price do you think PS5 will be?

3) XBox fans - Not going to comment, because Scarlett could be it's own thread.  Not going to derail.

4) Switch - Will NOT be considered old and last gen in 2020.  That is 3 years after launch and therefore current gen with PS5.

5) Misdirection - Everything you said doesn't address my real points.
A) The market resists inflation for electronics.
B) The PS5 will have a launch price that is too expensive.

Actually most in VGC seem to think 500 will be the ceiling, so the + there is trying to reach a little.

And PS3 didn't sell abhorent in the first 6 months. There is enough loyal fans of both systems to have 6-12 months of sale on a 500+ then one year later a pricecut if necessary and it will hardly affect the sales curve. PS4 have been selling ahead of PS2 curve even though it didn't had as many price cuts.
