Actually most in VGC seem to think 500 will be the ceiling, so the + there is trying to reach a little.
And PS3 didn't sell abhorent in the first 6 months. There is enough loyal fans of both systems to have 6-12 months of sale on a 500+ then one year later a pricecut if necessary and it will hardly affect the sales curve. PS4 have been selling ahead of PS2 curve even though it didn't had as many price cuts.
