So if I buy it and like it, I can kiss a hypothetical sequel goodbye unless I buy an Xbox, or a gaming PC. That doesn't sound very appealing. Why the hell would I invest in that? Looks pretty cool though. First time I've seen any footage of it, trailers or otherwise, that may have already been released.

Yes cause MS doesnt allow games on other platforms?. I guess that game that was announced the other day for multi platform release must of been from Sony??.

Of course it's not impossible a potential sequel will be multi-plat, but, it might also become an exclusive. To deny that possibility is foolish. Especially as it concerns it's availability.... on.... what platform??? Do you you think a The Outer Worlds sequel is likely to appear on PS5 due to the rich history of Microsoft games releasing on Sony platforms????? Let's see, there's Minecraft, and the fairly unique circumstances that allowed that to happen.....And what???????? The Outer Worlds. A game that largely hits all the same benchmarks as Minecraft. Not quite ready for release, but well down the path to completion. Too close to being finished to make it an exclusive on a platform that is struggling, to be sure. Even beyond that, it's safe to assume that "t's" were crossed, and "i's" were dotted, and it simply had to appear on PS4 and Switch, barring some type of contract buyout that would render it's XBO exclusivity fiscally pointless.

"I guess that game that was announced the other day for multi platform release must of been from Sony??."

A shot at mean old Sony for still having exclusives, eh? Yeah, that's the whole idea behind being a platform holder. If a company has a platform, and they've been forced to shift from, or even abandon, that fundamental business practice, it's a good indicator that things aren't going so well, as opposed to, as one might infer from your comment, some kind of magnanimous gesture.

Only if Obsidian keep the rights to it, but it's being published by Private Division, so if they maintain the rights they can just get another developer to make a sequel.

Yeah, from what I can find from a couple different sources, Obsidian owns the IP, and Private Division owns the publishing rights.......But as Obsidian is now wholly owned by Microsoft, there would have to have been agreements made in the purchase that see Obsidian maintain some type of autonomy in controlling their own IP's for MS not to be in control now. And I don't know if that's the case. I can't find anything that would indicate it is. And of course, Microsoft could simply buy the publishing rights from Private Division and gain full control. It terms of what could happen, it's kind of a mess.
