First of all their are cheats in CTR but except Pinguin they disable achievements/trophies. We have racing games that add 100 dollars in DLC/Fighter games that add season passes for characters and skins/free to play games that added thousands of dollars of skins. |
And that's fine if they allow cheats and disable trophies. At least they aren't charging for them, because if they were, that would be looked down upon.
Skins that don't require any other currency, and are unlocked purely in the old fashioned way, without needing an MT to inject with a purchase is also fine. We have skins on heroes of the storm, that are not bought with gems, but are instead forged via a collection of shards, which cannot be bought with any sort of MT.
I don't think game reviewers make a living in terms of reviewing skins, unless you're PCG, who love gossiping non stop about Fortnite skins. If it were released as a free or paid expansion, like MHW will be doing, then I would expect that to get a review.
I am aware, and they are also insanely costly, if you want the whole package. That doesn't mean to say "pay what you want" is the best model given to man, and how all games should be going forward, because that just isn't it, not for the entire industry, not for all consumers either.
Yes, there are kids who won't be getting the whole pass, but there are adults and other kids that can, have and will.
Making a full priced game and releasing characters for free, with no MT's or strings attached is great, and I applaud that model, because it's pro-consumer. Adding in MT's and introducing what will always become an artificial grind, because without MT's, you don't need that artificial grind to begin with, but beyond that, just adding them in isn't pro-consumer, because the previous model was free and was already pro-consumer, before MT's arrived. Trying to say "paid for">literally free is foolhardy to suggest.
I find it silly to allow it to spread, because if you're to forgive it now, you allow my experiences to deteriorate and for little room to right back, because it's labeled user "silly", so your way would in turn over time, override mine and then it's basically you telling me, via your forgiveness on how I should game, and I frankly find that a direct obstacle to my way of gaming.
The very last thing I want, is a group who are tolerant to predatory practices, paving the way for others to be forced out of a hobby they like, simply because the other party refuses to understand, let alone respect the other's wishes, and that's where this sort of topic lands us.
You want options?, free is a very fine and far better start, than paying each and every time, or facing an artificial grind.
