The sad thing is, when our cable went out 5 years ago we could pick up a few analog channels (without even an antenna, just a piece of coax cable attached) and they were better quality than the digital HD channels... No pixelation! All analog channels are gone now, there's a few digital channels you can pick up but then you get the worst of both worlds. Atmospheric noise causing the signal to break up and compression artifacts, yay.

Now that's interesting. I'm tempted to see what channels I can pick up once I moved into my new place at the end of the month, but I'm not even sure my TV has a coaxial nub to connect to.
