NBA 2k is still a yearly release, which these days is outdated. Sports games need to start taking the GaaS route and just put out one game that's updated every year. Rocket League does it, and that's an indie game. What's EA's excuse? Yeah, but GaaS can be pretty cancerous in itself. I don't see EA or 2K making an honest GaaS game. They'll just monetize it to no end. At least the outdated method lets people continue to play their copy of Madden 2014 as long as they want, without having to be annoyed by MTX or other schemes.
