Yeah... I saw that thread. Even though the guy you were discussing with was a bit too "agressive" and close minded... If you want some advice: Know when a discussion is not worth it. And you two reached that point weeks ago xD Back on topic... I guess that's one way to see it. I never really thought about gameplay when deciding if a game is a spin off or not. I think story, specially in a franchise like KH, is a far more important factor to take into account. As for the main plot being contained in the numbered game... I can't agree with that either. While Days, Coded and Union X do not provide a heavy plot expansion, games like BbS or DDD definetely contain a big enough part of the overall KH story to be almost (if not entirely) on par with the numbered games in that regard. That being said, I respect your opinion. And I see we both agree that the franchise could have been handled much better with less games and with a more focused story. I'm glad we agree on something ^^ |
Yeah, and that's on me for not just letting go. I'm actually a pretty big longtime fanboy for series, so I let his gatekeeping get to me, that's my bad.
I know what people are saying about BBS and DDD, I guess objectively for the story they contain as many or more and just as consequential plot elements as the numbered ones, but they still didn't feel like the game I was waiting for. I guess I don't really know how to explain it, but whatever, point is the way they affected the story made it crazy, unfocused, and less enjoyable for a lot of people. I still love the series overall though, just wish it had been handled better. Given that we're already hearing Nomura talk about more non numbered games coming before 4, I don't think anything is changing in that regard anytime soon. If they at least come to consistent platforms, it'll at least be a bit less expensive to follow along this time.
