In a story dated for July 16 in Newsweek, Spielberg reveals his upcoming games. A Wii exclusives, and a PS3/360 multiplatform game. Before I get started and give the descriptions of the two games I would like to say that Stephen Spielberg as many of you know is one of the greatest directors of all time. They say that lots of directors can make a great movie, but Spielberg knows what the public wants in its "great movies". A rare talent that will hopefully be transferred to these two games.
Wii game - Codenamed PQRS is an "action-puzzle simulator" that is described as Jenga meets a Saturday morning cartoon by Croal. The description states that you can manipulate blocks with the remote.
PS3/360 game - Codenamed LMNO, described as ET meets North by Northwest. Only if ET were a girl, grown up, and "really hot".
You don't play as the girl, however. You're an ex-secret agent, and the bond that you forge while on the run with the computer-controlled woman--good, bad, indifferent--determines the nature of her special abilities and the ways in which she'll assist you. Says Spielberg: "The challenge is, can the game have an emotional impact on players while they are actively manipulating the world?" Based on the clever ways in which he and EA are extracting a genuine performance from their digital Eve--complete with eyes that widen, lips that curl and translucent skin that lights up in different colors to express her quicksilver moods--we think Spielberg's got yet another hit on his hands.
