The German term for trickle down is Pferdeäpfel-Theorie which is more appropriate than the English equivalent. Of course it doesn't work because it relies on volunteership from the rich to share their wealth. Unsurprisingly, they don't want to do that. Trickle down is a principle that is supported by only two kinds of people: Those who want to get even richer than they already are and people who are gullible enough to believe that the rich are kind. |
For first few months after massive breaks for corporation (which many used loopholes to not even pay effective rate to begin with) and majority to rich it looked like there might have been some merit to it but it was all bs. AT&T and a few other companies announced one time bonuses. That is pretty much all that happened. One and done so you had good news first few months of cuts but now most economist realize it was nothing but a sugar high.
We haven't had increase in min wage on federal level since 2008. Some states and local governments have stepped in and increased but the federal is still 7.50 a hour which is pathetic not only in 2008 but even more now. If they had balls to attach min wage to inflation then we wouldn't have to bring up damn issue every decade or so. Min should be least 10 to 11. Sure living standards vary per location but if you argue you can't pay your employees more than 10 a hour you either shouldn't be in business or you are one cheap bastard.
Most politicians are in the pocket book of big business. Lobbyist have effectively taken over the country.
