Have you played Halo 4? That was a great game and so was Halo 5 to an extent, just each game had weaknesses. 4 fell on the MP and 5 fell on the campaign but.. from what we have seen, 343 Have proven they can make a great campaign in 4 and a great MP in 5. They just need to add them both together and we have a true Halo game package. |
Angry rant: I would argue Halo 4 is the worst FPS I have ever played in my life, and definitely for its budget. In fact in multiplayer it was probably the biggest drop (from Halo Reach) of any online game in xbox live history. It was such a failure it (along with Gears Judgement) forced Major Nelson to stop posting the weekly xbox live charts. Every single comment section on Major Nelson during Halo 4's release was filled with accounts making fun of how bad the game is. The phrase "halo is dad" dad = dead misspelled became a meme within the competitive community on the MLG and Beyond forums. It was easily the least skillful Halo game and less skillful than any COD game (yes any COD at least every COD I played and it came out around games like AW and Ghosts)...I had a 6 k/d in the game (and 8 k/d in war zone in Halo 5 but I actually enjoyed halo 5) and I did not enjoy the game. It was a terrible video game imo not just a terrible Halo or a terrible FPS or competitive game. Everything about it felt like going into a worse timeline. Granted maybe if I never played any other Halo game I wouldn't feel this way. The thing is Halo Reach was received mixed among the Halo community and Halo 4 had very Low expectations, but it managed to fail miserably. The xbox live charts, the MLG owner mocking the game, the community hating on the game, many top Halo pros went onto play BO2, AW, and Ghosts because of disliking Reach and Halo 4. I personally had issues with Reach, but compared to Halo 4 I would much rather play Reach. It made me realize just how far Halo could fall when it became an unrecognizable mess. I could rant in detail on how the campaign was terrible and now has a cult following because of the youtube community despite tons of scathing fan posts when it first came out. I could rant about everything little that they did wrong. I won't. I think I made my point, and imo it combined with Bungie dropping the ball on Destiny became the most disappointing thing about last gen. We were suppose to get 343 to carry the torch and Bungie to create something generation changing, but we got trolled. That being said, I enjoyed year 1 of destiny 100x my best enjoyed day of Halo 4. Halo 4 was work and as a high k/d fps player I had to do my thing, but it wasn't fun, challenging, skillful, or immersive. It felt like playing a knockoff. The story felt like a slap in the face. Halo died because of Halo 4, and it's been a huge reason that Microsoft has had to kill the xbox brand as a console and move into the PC market. Sure they wanted to do that anyway, but the devs at Microsoft studios and such can't make an argument to keep Halo exclusive because it isn't powerful enough anymore.
I can't really have an opinion on this new Halo game because it wasn't gameplay. Halo 5 was a lot more fun than Halo 4, but mostly because I enjoyed Warzone for the new experience that it was. Almost every Halo game besides 4 has things I would take back and inject into a future Halo game, but each would require a lengthy explanation and comparison to every other game in the series as to why. I miss Halo. I wish the best for Halo, but I lost all hope given 343's track record./rant
