1) But why do they have to respond, in a manner that EGS is responding to the entirety of PC gaming with?.

/snip

2) I don't think Valve need sto respond directly, to something that is now not their problem.

/snip

3) This isn't an issue of "get off your arse Valve", this is more an issue of "hey, stop doing the most shadiest and should be illegal shit devs/Epic", and shame on KS for not seeing this transpiring and doing anything to protect consumers.

4) Before any of this, KS games went on as usual, but now Epic is on the field, everything has gone to hell. it's not Valve, it's the devs/Epic, and people need to be woken up to this reality.

1) Why? Because gamers want to play there games on Steam.

2) Valve wont respond because right now, EGS is in there infancy so this will continue to happen.. however EGS are growing fast and one day its going to bite them in the arse for allowing there competitor a walk right in there fort and they will hit them where it hurts.

3) Issue? Apparently this isn't against the rules in the gaming industry, technically Epic is doing what is allowed. So weather you hate it or not, it will continue to happen until people speak up.

4) No one will wake up because this is business. Supporters such as you and myself need to speak up and not defend Valve in this situation. They need to compete and as someone mentioned above, there are other ways to compete without being shady. Valve can make it harder for devs to leave for Epic by offering better deals for them. Its way to easy for Devs to switch to Epic because it is a far superior deal. Valve needs to close that gap.

And please lets keep this civil, no personal attacks.

1) Responding with what exactly?.

You cannot expect nor want them to (because no, I don't want you dictating what Steam should do in console fashion) act in Epic's manner, by announcing the same sort of practices, that got Epic's hate in the first place. All you would end up getting is "we're sorry for the state of the way things are, but that's not our doing", is what you would get.

You know Valve are working on multiple things as of this post, how are Epic getting on with that shopping cart? (oh that's right, Tim's been busy acting smug with me on Twitter and other folk talking about issues with him, so glad Gabe doesn't act like him on social media, a CEO no less).

2) Of course they won't respond. Have you seen how Epic have been acting since they opened up shop?, they've been tripping all over the place and making right fools of themselves and as it turns out, devs and consumers as well, because we've got consumers defending their complete fuck-ups, and devs now resorting to mocking consumers via their official Twitter accounts (Satisfactory is a prime example). I don't think Valve has anything to say on Epic's own screw ups, I mean, Sony didn't exactly go up on Stage and purposely talk about MS directly, but instead they decided that for a console (that absolutely needs to sell, sell, sell, if that urgency hasn't already been clued in), they needed to gain the upper hand, so they used MS's mistakes, and turned them into advantages. Valve could do this, but only if they allow Epic to continue screwing themselves up, while Valve worjk on their games and store revamp, as well as new network API, and then, then they can come up with some new toys/words to break the silence and give Epic a right backhand to the face.

Some of you are demanding action right now, but you have to read between the lines and plan this sort of thing carefully, because if you just blurt out some random promises or words, well, it may very well backfire and cost you more than what you'd originally promised. Case in point, MS promising some games, but said games were either cancelled, delayed or not living up to what was originally envisioned, and that definitely did do some damage to themselves and some of their consumers.

Valve needs to continue doing what they are doing and wait for the right moment. A moment that doesn't involve getting childish and personal with Epic, or what Epic has dabbled with, because dabbling with what Valve wasn't directly involved with, just leads to trouble and backlash.

3) What Epic have been doing, should be borderline illegal. Using a competitor's storefront as free pre-orders and advertising, then allowing said dev to continue advertising and denying the storefront of users any sort of sale to be made?. It's somehow normal for that to occur in the console world, but it's definitely not acceptable here on PC. There are even people throughout multiple Steam store page forums, that are asking Valve to take these store pages down, and quite frankly I heavily agree and vouch for their removal, because if you're selling somewhere else and you're not selling here, you can jog on, because you're not using a storefront that you're not doing busines with as free advertisement, especially when some of these few devs bitched at Valve for not doing much for them, yet they willingly abuse Valve for free pre-order cash, for ea games and not selling to consumers there at the same time.

What they are doing is absolutely cheeky and scummy as fuck, and nothing in the known universe will convince me otherwise.

Devs have food to put on the table?, give me a break, so do we all. I've got 4 dogs to feed, a girlfriend and myself, as well as bills to pay and taxes to file. I've got it far worse than a sodding indie studio with a copy+pasted genre or concept, that needs 5+ million for their water cooler and canteen food fees. I've no sympathy for devs that do this, especially with the KS debacles. My trust in devs has run very, very thin, to a point where I've next to no trust at all, and that's all thanks to the few that poisoned the well and tried to play the "woe is me" card too many times.

And for the record, I'm not mad at you, I'm pissed at devs for doing this shit, because I actively support multiple artists via Patreon, and those artists have been 100% clear with me on what's going on when they don't deliver, and even then they more than make up for it when they get better from being ill, or abruptly being needed elsewhere. I pay them monthly, and I get more than enough value out of what they do. These devs, pulling this shit?, no, it's of no value to me, only to them, because I'm not a part of their equation.

Also, Kickstarter needs to step up, because the Shem devs have actually broken one KS rule, and they are also not offering refunds, which has pissed off many.

4) It's not that I need to defend Valve, it's that I need to take any and all of my rage out on a company, that:

A) left us in the dust when piracy was at it's highest point.

B) mocked us when they left with shitty words like "you won't find games like gears on PC, but you might find something from Facebook games"

C) Takes us for granted with their FN success, and thinks they can come in and bitch slap everyone and that everyone must adhere to their new rule.

Valve doesn't come in like that, only Tim does, because Tim sees himself as some glorified savior and that itself is honestly shallow, arrogant and smug-like. I don't need to defend Valve, I need to take on Tim, and I have been on Twitter, because that madman of a CEO thinks it's fun to troll users on his account, instead of actually working on adding a sodding shopping cart.

Again, I don't need to defend Valve, but you need to take a look at that lazy af CEO of Epic's and just see what he's doing. Don't ignore him, don't go "it's because of Valve he's like that", no, you look at him and you see just how asinine that man is and what damage he's doing.

I'll leave it with this;

No, cutting down to say, Discord's deal is not actually sustainable, much as some of you here like to truly believe it is absolutely possible for a company to just make continued losses on a lot of areas and somehow make big bank back assuredly. Valve taking on Discord's cut will not stop Epic doing what they do, and it certainly won't sway devs either. In fact, I don't think Valve should be writing chequeues either, because that becomes a scummy fuck you, got mine" debacle, where you alienate a few devs (because there are so very many devs and I know for a fact Valve cannot write one for literally every dev on the globe, in the millions of dollars) and then those few devs form a group saying "valve left us behind, now we hate them", and then the cycle repeats itself, because not everyone got a free lunch paid for.

I don't think devs need to be given sacks of cash, because I see that as greedy and unfair to literally all other devs who don't get the same treatment. You wanna treat one dev to an exclusive deal?, treat them all or get off that wagon.
