I was not liking Sony about a year ago, but now I'm really respecting them alot more as a company. They have definitely turned around their company alot in the last year. Their entire product line is becoming higher build quality and frankly, the PR has been much more level headed.
I think it was a great idea for them to get rid of Ken Katuragi, as he was doing more harm for the cause than good with his blind comments.
If Sony got anything right with their PS3 launch, it has to be their hardware. Extremely well built hardware and even has alot less problems than my NDS. The PS1 and PS2 had design problems, but the PS3 really doesn't.
As far as screwing the consumers, M$ and Nintendo had done it in the past just as much. I think many on this board are too young to really remember the Windows ME era, and people hated M$ alot back in those days. Now with Vista, they maybe seeing that again. If I'm correct, I think they will stop supporting XP in 2008.
If I'm right, Nintendo has been in trouble in Europe for overpricing. Back in the early days, Sony liberated Final Fantasy in America. With Nintendo it was...
Final Fantasy IV = Final Fantasy II Easy Version
Final Fantasy VI = Final Fantasy III
Bar = Cafe
Beer = Coke
Having a child out of wedlock = Having a child after marrying (FF6).
And many more.

Before the internet was mainstream, Nintendo could get away with a whole lot. But it does also have to do with no rating system previously, and the Prudent aspect of American culture.
I've had every single Nintendo Console except for the Wii so far. I may get banned for saying this but I do think the Wii is extremely overrated. I just feel like I will be waiting in line and spending $250 for a controller and an upgraded Gamecube. I've played the Wii alot at my friends' places alot, and it's definitely my last console to buy. I'll probably get it just because I have 4/5 of the consoles already - PSP, NDS, PS3, Xbox360, and well I need to finish the job. It would be good when I have people getting drunk at parties. But as far as line-up goes in the next year, there are about 8 games I want for PS3, 5 for Xbox360, and 2 coming for the Wii.
Nintendo keeps repeating the same thing over and over - "We are innovative. We are for everyone." But I have the feeling they are completely writing off the people who want the theater experience in their games.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
