I didn't like this "Final Fantasy killer" much when it originally released. The graphics, cgi, and music were really good. The rest, not so much. The biggest thing was the story. Can't remember much about it these days but back then I thought it was horrible. Compared to games like FF, Grandia (or, as autocorrect called it, "Grandpa"), Skies of Arcadia, Chrono, Mario RPG, Xenogears, and many more (RPGs were my thing back then), it baffled me how much love this game got back then and how much it still gets.
Of course there is nothing wrong with anyone loving this game. There are lots of games that I absolutely adored that aren't critically acclaimed and maybe even hated. If it's for you, enjoy!
