Interesting.. I don't know why at any point you thought this show is taking the "lesson learnt" route. Jon destroying the throne would be the most obvious ending and that's what I'd expect if GoT was like any other show. It would also be a bit lame considering it would be naive to think destroying the throne would lead to 7 Kingdoms to rule in autonomy.

Anyway, I'll get back to this thread after the finale.

So how do you feel about GOT being like any other show now?

Drogon destroyed the throne, and they started a more democratic system where rulers are chosen. And one of the Kingdoms already left to rule autonomously, opening up the possibility for more to do the same in the future.

It's pretty much the direction I expected them to go with.

And didn't you think that Jon killing Dany was perhaps the most obvious 'plot twist' in the history of the series?
I think everyone saw that coming a mile away. Tyrion even spelled it out for us.

I don't have a problem with obvious story outcomes if they make sense, but because of how this season was so rushed, the scene lacked the emotional impact it could have had because they didn't even bother trying to make sense of Daenerys actions.

Emilia also added that she expected her story to end this way. As many people did. But it's how they got there that's the problem.

The attempt at justifying her actions in Epi 6 was ridiculous. Cercei forced her because she used them as a weakness? No, all she had to do was attack the Red Keep. She did not have to target innocent people instead of going after Cercei.

And remember that Dan & David wanted 7 seasons, but had to be dragged kicking and screaming to agree to 8. How would they have set this up in 7 seasons? Dany ordering a baby from Amazon, and stabbing it on her desk in front of Jon?

I did write some of my thoughts after watching the episode. I stated my surprise they took the "lesson learnt" route and went with such a happy ending. So yeah, it was like any other show and not in style of GoT. Or at least how I saw GoT.

I expected and wanted more bitterness tbh but overall it left a happy feeling how things turned out. It sucks a bit they rushed the Dany&Jon romance so Jon killing Dany wasn't emotional at all. And it wasn't surprising.. It might have helped a bit if Dany wasn't suddenly wearing that Edward Scrissorhands outfit, but basically they needed 4-5 more episodes. Emilia & Kit did all they could.

Everyone probably noticed it was the most jarring episode ever. Cut was so weak. I checked and it was directed by D&D. I don't know why they wanted to do it because other directors did a great job imo despite having to rush the thing. Whole season was full of amazing shots & cinematic stuff. Sometimes at the expense of making sense (Dothraki charging into darkness with flaming swords for example) but that's ok.

Anyway, it wasn't the finale I expected it to be and it highlighted how quickly they wrapped it up but it left me feeling good about The series. Me and my wife wanted to watch the whole thing again asap and are now 6 episodes in first season. Amazing series!
