Shareholders often look at the short term though, quick profits, for the longer term they are free to sell and buy whatever becomes popular. For example Be Inc was worth over a billion dollars at one point, as technically their product was superior to Microsoft Windows. But when Microsoft blocked 3rd party PC builders to deal with Be Inc (paying more for Windows), stocks crashed rapidly and Be Inc bankrupted. |
