Besides Mario 64, 3D Mario games are probably thee most overrated games on the market. I've felt that way since Sunshine. Galaxy was a major disappointment in my eyes. The game felt empty. That's the best analogy I can think of. 3D land was somewhat of a decent game but again something felt off. Most recently Odyssey was just flat out boring. I couldn't even imagine my younger self being as entertained as I was playing 64 or earlier installments. Just to be clear, none of the games are bad games. Just not even close to what people claim or their 2D counterparts which are lightyears better.
