League of Legends' new champion is an adorable magical kitty great for newer players
https://www.pcgamer.com/league-of-legends-yuumi/
League of Legends just revealed its new champion—a bubbly, magical kitty named Yuumi—and I'm feeling very self-conscious about how much I already love this damn cat. Normally I'm more of a dog person, but Yuumi has a disarming personality and a unique support playstyle that I can't wait to try out when she arrives on May 14.

https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-fov-slider/
In a blog post addressing the growing ire among professional Fortnite players in the weeks of qualifiers leading to the Fortnite World Cup, Epic explains why the beloved Siphon mechanic (rewarding health for kills) was removed, whether or not an FOV slider will ever happen, plans for squashing bugs, and how it'll communicate big changes going forward.

https://www.pcgamer.com/firmament-from-myst-developers-gets-fully-funded-on-kickstarter/
It was looking touch-and-go for Firmament, the next game from the creators of Myst, when it headed into the final stretch of its Kickstarter campaign $350,000 short of its funding goal. But thanks to a late push it got over the line—and then some, with fans backing it to the tune of $1.43 million.

Creepy point-and-click Apocalipsis comes to GOG with 40% discount
https://www.pcgamer.com/creepy-point-and-click-apocalipsis-comes-to-gog-with-40-discount/
Apocalipsis creeps me the hell out. It's a point-and-click adventure game filled with giant fish, musical instruments made of human bones and a young boy with eerily long fingers—and it's just come to GOG sporting a 40% discount.

https://www.pcgamer.com/starbreeze-offloads-more-publishing-rights-this-time-for-mohawk-games-10-crowns/
Starbreeze had a rocky 2018: it was forced to restructure following the sales flop of Overkill’s The Walking Dead, and began selling off previously-acquired publishing rights, starting with System Shock 3. This week, it announced it has sold the rights to 10 Crowns, the historical 4X strategy game made by Civilization 4 veterans, back to developer Mohawk Games. It bought the rights just over a year ago.

Borderlands 3 has 25 times more gun sounds than Borderlands 2
https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands-3-has-25-times-more-gun-sounds-than-borderlands-2/
Borderlands 3 will have approximately 45 bajillion guns, including guns that "chase down enemies while hurling verbal insults", guns that fire volcanoes, and guns that deal a new elemental damage type: radiation. All those guns generate a lot of noise—enough that the game already has 25 times more .wav files for weapon firing sounds than Borderlands 2 did, according to Gearbox Software senior sound designer Joshua Davidson.

Himno is a free, relaxing platformer in which you can't die
https://www.pcgamer.com/himno-is-a-free-relaxing-platformer-in-which-you-cant-die/
Himno's silent protagonist carries a giant sword on their back—but doesn't ever use it. This is a platformer with no enemies in which you can never die, leaving you to relax across an infinite number of procedurally-generated levels while wall-running, sliding and interacting with lifts. Best of all, it's completely free, and available now on Steam.

The Division 2 test patch adds more Dark Zone loot and increases PvP 'time to kill'
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-division-2-test-patch-adds-more-dark-zone-loot-and-increases-pvp-time-to-kill/
The latest patch on The Division 2's new public test server touches nearly every system in the game, with adjustments to skills, gear attributes, recalibration and weapon damage values. But the most interesting changes, to my mind, come in the Dark Zone and PvP combat, which is being adjusted to make it harder to kill other players.

https://www.pcgamer.com/mojang-has-released-the-biggest-minecraft-update-yet/
Minecraft Java Edition is still being updated, yes. Its latest update, which brings it to version 1.14, is called Village & Pillage. Announced at Minecon Earth last year and implemented earlier this week, it brings a huge amount of new items, blocks, mobs, and other features to the game including crossbows, pandas, foxes, bamboo, cartography and fletching tables, lanterns, pillagers (who have crossbows) and more. You can read the full changelog here.

https://www.pcgamer.com/minecraft-villagers-stealing-beds-breeding-in-players-homes-after-latest-update/
Minecraft's massive new Village & Pillage update, which Mojang reckons is the "biggest Minecraft update yet", has caused havoc with the AI of villagers: players are discovering them stealing beds, breeding like rabbits, and claiming player-built land for their own.

Following a stint in beta, Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest will release on Steam on May 15. It's an isometric RPG with tactical, turn-based combat, created by a small team with experience working on the Legend of Grimrock series. Andy seemed pretty keen on the idea back when the game was announced in 2017.

Riot Games is trying to stop employees from taking legal action
https://www.pcgamer.com/riot-games-is-trying-to-stop-employees-from-taking-legal-action/
Several former and current Riot Games employees have filed lawsuits against the League of Legends developer since a report last year claimed there was a pervasive culture of sexism throughout the studio. The suits allege that, despite promises, Riot has not done enough to combat sexism in the workplace, instead "sweeping these allegations under the rug". Now Riot is attempting to stop two of the women from pursuing legal action, using clauses in their contracts to force them into private arbitration.

https://www.pcgamer.com/stardew-valley-14-will-add-a-new-farm-and-separate-bank-accounts/
Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone isn't done tinkering with his farming sim, and he took to Twitter over the weekend to share what he's been up to, namely update 1.4. "It's a big one," Barone promised, and will include a new farm map, Four Corners, and separate bank accounts in multiplayer. No more going seed shopping only to realise your mate's blown it all on garden ornaments. We said we'd discuss purchases as a group!
