What are you talking about??

Un-docked Switch = 157 Gflops
Docked Switch = 393 Gflops

Are you thinking about half-floats ? FP16? Do you say PS4pro is a 8.4 Tflop machine too?
FP32 (same thing we use for PS4/XB1) the Switch is 393 GFlops docked.

Apples to Apples compairsion is what I did.
So I used FP32 for all the console systems I listed above (Wii U + Switch , and PS4 + PS4pro).

How can people still be confused about how powerfull the Switch is? Havnt we had this talk / threads for ends on ends already?

"You can't pretend it's not a completely different generation to the Wii U."

I know that, Im just saying useing the logic "its not a half step like the PS4 to the PS4pro" is wrong, in terms of hardware.
The jump from PS4 -> PS4pro, is bigger than the one from the Wii U to the Switch.

Also my definition of a console generation, isnt viewed simply by what number it is in release order from a vendor.
A generation isnt singular, thus even in console talk, its about belonging to others that appear at the same time / same capabilities.
In my view Switch belongs to the same gen as the PS4/XB1, its not a next gen console.

I was argueing with someone else, and he said that "its not a half step, like the PS4 to PS4pro".
Which was why I brought up the numbers... and my counter arguement was in terms of "power" jump, the PS4 to PS4pro was a bigger jump than WiiU to Switch, or atleast as big.

I remember reading the switch had more, I apologise I was wrong, I should've checked before commenting.

Power doesn't define a generation. It's more than just power. So you're either saying the Wii U isn't in the same gen as the PS4/XB1 or you're saying the Switch and Wii U are in the same gen?

Its fine, its the Nvidia PR speak, and the Half-float vs Full Floats thingy.
Not to help this issue, alot of people on the net that list consoles by power, often mis-quote things too, adding to the confusion.

We had alot of threads over time because of this even here on VGChartz where people where confused about the Switch.

"Power doesn't define a generation. It's more than just power. So you're either saying the Wii U isn't in the same gen as the PS4/XB1 or you're saying the Switch and Wii U are in the same gen?"

Power kinda does..... if you cant play most of the same 3rd party gen games, because your system isnt strong enough.
Is it still a current gen console?

Note Im not saying this. I believe the Switch belongs to the same gen as the PS4/XB1, as it can play some 3rd party multiplats.

I think Wii U was a half step console..... a tiny bit above the PS3/XB360, but too far below the PS4/XB1 to belong to the same gen as them.
I believe the Switch is the same gen as the PS4.

So either Nintendo had 2 consoles, in 1 gen.
Or Wii U was a half step, into the same gen as the PS4/XB1, but not really in the same gen.

I just cant think of the Switch as being a future gen, when its so far behinde in terms of tech / capabilities / power,..... it wouldnt be right to put it side by side with the Xbox Two or Playstation 5.

IF theres any ports of PS5/XB2 games that are multiplat, and really demanding, and somehow they manage to port it to the Switch, and it looks/plays okay.... I might change my mind.  However right now, I just dont considering the Switch to be a gen ahead.
