I remember reading the switch had more, I apologise I was wrong, I should've checked before commenting. |
Its fine, its the Nvidia PR speak, and the Half-float vs Full Floats thingy.
Not to help this issue, alot of people on the net that list consoles by power, often mis-quote things too, adding to the confusion.
We had alot of threads over time because of this even here on VGChartz where people where confused about the Switch.
"Power doesn't define a generation. It's more than just power. So you're either saying the Wii U isn't in the same gen as the PS4/XB1 or you're saying the Switch and Wii U are in the same gen?"
Power kinda does..... if you cant play most of the same 3rd party gen games, because your system isnt strong enough.
Is it still a current gen console?
Note Im not saying this. I believe the Switch belongs to the same gen as the PS4/XB1, as it can play some 3rd party multiplats.
I think Wii U was a half step console..... a tiny bit above the PS3/XB360, but too far below the PS4/XB1 to belong to the same gen as them.
I believe the Switch is the same gen as the PS4.
So either Nintendo had 2 consoles, in 1 gen.
Or Wii U was a half step, into the same gen as the PS4/XB1, but not really in the same gen.
I just cant think of the Switch as being a future gen, when its so far behinde in terms of tech / capabilities / power,..... it wouldnt be right to put it side by side with the Xbox Two or Playstation 5.
IF theres any ports of PS5/XB2 games that are multiplat, and really demanding, and somehow they manage to port it to the Switch, and it looks/plays okay.... I might change my mind. However right now, I just dont considering the Switch to be a gen ahead.
