We had this debate a thousand times. The terms hardcore and casual lost their original meaning. Nowadays hardcore means elitist douche bag who started playing games after the PSX generation and casual means retarded who don`t know any better. The hardcore favorite games are crap like Need for Speed Underground, Madden and GTA. The casual are satisfied with anything that resembles cell phone game quality.
So if anyone considers himself a hardcore gamer I have 2 tips:
1) No one is buying that you are a virgin by choice
2) When facing mid life crisis it is a lot cooler to buy a new Harley Davidson than a video game.
