Sorry, I couldn't let that go.
Sony is one of the best makers of batteries. PERIOD.
The "exploding battery" thing was ridiculous, because it was only Dell (see, even their competitiors use thier batteries) Laptops that had the problem, the Sony ones never did, so it was more of Dell's fault than Sony's but, it seems everyone blames Sony for it.
If you don't believe me that Sony is good at making batteries, take this into account, when I got my Walkman, it had a battery life of 48hrs, and equivalent iPod had a battery life (at that time) of about 20hrs.
Seriously, if you don't like a company because they're so good at making batteries (and are in many products), then you need to get your priorities straight.
On-topic, it's just because there's a loada Nin fanboys on this site. Also I like them (Nintendo), but nobody seems to remember how they totally screwed Sony, they just remember/know of how Sony totally screwed Nintendo and Microsoft last 2 gens, personally, I think that Sony is the least monopolistic of the three. I mean they never had as great percentage of the VGConsole/Hanheld market that Nintendo has at point enjoyed, and of course anybody who says Microsoft isn't Monopolistic, is totally ignorant really. How many people know that the EU is constantly fining Microsoft for owning so much of the market, albeit it's not that much compared to their profits. The fact that Sony is seen as monopolistic I think is the biggest reason IMO.
One person's experience or opinion never shows the general consensus
