What's hard to understand? Your comment came off like you are saying that other people should have the same standards as you, that you can't fathom why people are upset and that it's a non-issue for you so it shouldn't be for others. Maybe that wasn't your intention but that's how it sounded.

There is no way you can logically conclude that the reply was meant to make fun of your opinion on the matter. It was meant to make light of the way you wrote your comment. I basically spelled it out for you in the last sentence.

First of all if that's how you read my post that's your problem, and secondly I CAN come to the conclusion that you were mocking me based on how condescending you were, and are, trying to be.

Okay, then anyway someone interprets anything is their problem. Because it always requires some form of interpretation when you read a comment. That's probably not the best excuse to use as a moderator.

When you write "I don't understand people being upset with something like this", and then say "all they've got to do is download a FREE launcher", and then say "It's a complete non-issue for me, lol", the effect of this combination is that you are saying you can't see how people are upset, and that people shouldn't be upset, based on your standards. You're even minimizing the problem for other people (not just yourself) in the extended version of the second quote. Any one of those comments by themselves wouldn't be an issue, but it is the combination of them that makes it sound like you are saying everyone should have your standards.

I'm not trying to be "condescending", when you have to explain a joke or the point of a joke, it's always going to sound condescending ... because the joke was supposed to be obvious enough so that it didn't need an explanation in the first place!

You are taking it as a great offense and even played the victim in your first reply. You shouldn't take it as such. I didn't read that much into your comment, just as I did not mean much by my reply. All it was meant to signal is that you should have the self-awareness to see that other people have their own standards and that you should try to be a little bit more reasonable in seeing them. Just as I can understand how people don't have a problem with the Epic store from a personal standpoint (unless they are making a pro-consumer argument for it, then given that it's an argument obviously I'm going to counter it).
