Tuesday news, part two:

Mortal Kombat 11 trailer confirms Kitana's return
https://www.pcgamer.com/mortal-kombat-11-trailer-confirms-kitanas-return/
Mortal Kombat 11's string of ultra-violent, gloriously silly trailers have got me ready to crack some skulls, completely unlike this subdued TV spot. You can't put all the good stuff in adverts, apparently, even when revealing a character who can slice people up with a pair of very sharp fans. Expect a proper Kitana trailer soon, but in the meantime you can watch the TV trailer above.

Fantasy General 2 is a modern sequel to the classic wargame
https://www.pcgamer.com/fantasy-general-2-is-a-modern-sequel-to-the-classic-wargame/
Fantasy General was a 1996 wargame for people who rightly felt that the otherwise excellent Panzer General didn't have enough dragons. And it threw in wizards, undead and—just for the hell of it—mechs, to boot. More than two decades later, it's getting an unexpected second wind in the form of Fantasy General 2 later this year.

Apex Legends is going to start penalizing players for leaving early
https://www.pcgamer.com/apex-legends-is-going-to-start-penalizing-players-for-leaving-early/
Last week's rollout of the Apex Legends 1.1 update caused some brief moments of stress for players who logged into the game and discovered that their accounts had apparently been reset. It was, fortunately, a relatively simple problem to correct with no long-last consequences, but it wasn't the only thing that went wrong. Some players also noticed the appearance, and then sudden disappearance, of a "leaving early" penalty for players who bail out of a game too quickly.

Blizzard reveals World of Warcraft Classic PvP content plan
https://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-reveals-world-of-warcraft-classic-pvp-content-plan/
Blizzard said last month that World of Warcraft Classic will be rolled out in six phases after it goes live this summer, based on the way-back-when update schedule of the original game. Today it expanded on that with details about its content plan for PvP, which will also follow the original WoW release pattern—which is to say that there won't be a "formal PvP system" in WoW Classic when it launches.

Z1 Battle Royale dropped by new developer, returns to Daybreak Games
https://www.pcgamer.com/z1-battle-royale-dropped-by-new-developer-returns-to-daybreak-games/
The H1Z1 saga has taken yet another bizarre, confusing twist, as developer NantG Mobile has announced that it is giving up on the newly-renamed Z1 Battle Royale and returning it to original developer Daybreak Games. The studio did not confirm that the change has resulted in layoffs, as reported last week by Massively Overpowered, but said that it "will focus on its core mission of developing mobile games moving forward," and has "refocused our team toward this vision."

Geralt is finally coming to Monster Hunter: World on PC next month
https://www.pcgamer.com/geralt-is-finally-coming-to-monster-hunter-world-on-pc-next-month/
Geralt of Rivia may be the Witcher, but his job description has always been monster hunter, which makes his upcoming appearance in Monster Hunter: World perhaps the game’s most sensible crossover event yet. Capcom has announced the collaboration event will kick off on PC May 9, and it’ll feature new quests and Witchery gear to earn.

Surviving Mars’ next expansion introduces terraforming
https://www.pcgamer.com/surviving-mars-next-expansion-introduces-terraforming/
An important thing to remember about Surviving Mars is that it takes place on Mars, a planet that has a relentlessly hostile environment and requires people to mainly stay indoors. Well, no more: Suviving Mars’ second expansion, called Green Planet, is adding terraforming mechanics to the game.

Thanks to Twitter, you can now pet the dog in Enter the Gungeon
https://www.pcgamer.com/thanks-to-twitter-you-can-now-pet-the-dog-in-enter-the-gungeon/
There’s a dog in bullet-hell roguelike Enter the Gungeon, and it follows you around, finds items, and barks at mimic chests. Even though it is a very good boy (or girl), you couldn’t pet it to show how thankful you were for its undying loyalty. But that has recently changed: Enter the Gungeon’s dog is now pettable, and it’s all thanks to a certain Twitter account.
