That doesn't make any sense though. It's fine to make exclusive games to promote a plastic box but not to promote a store? Which btw is all that they're doing. The plastic boxes are just vehicles to distribute the store. So they make their games store exclusive and then make their store hardware exclusive. They're one step more evil than Epic ever could be. You and I know that it wouldn't be a big feat for any of the console companies to port their exclusive games to other platforms, it's not 1990 anymore, we're all using the same frameworks. Making a game exclusive to hardware is not more nonsensical or evil than making it exclusive to a store. The intention behind it is the same. I know it's evil but I refuse to put it above any of the other shady things in the games industry that gain less news coverage. Epic is not doing anything different or outrageous compared to anyone else. It's a stupid hissy fit that PC gamers are throwing that obfuscates and buries other pressing matters. Everyone wants competition for Steam but as soon as we get it, they freak out. |
Why are you trying to twist the discussion?
I said, it's actually in the post you replied to, that I understand first party exclusives and would also understand that Epic, CD Projekt or Valve released their own games only on their platform. And that's because they have made the game: they own the studio in charge of it, pay the salaries, give it a budged and control everything about it, so it's only understandable that they keep it to themselves to reap all the profits and promote their platform, be a console or a digital store.
But what Epic is doing is buying third party exclusives, and that's what I'm against of.
