Matterfall, Persona 4 Golden, EDF 4.1: Wing Diver Shooter, Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition. Those are all games I was playing/enjoying in fairly recent times and got sidetracked and have yet to return to. I'd have to restart P4 Golden for sure.....I can't think of too many I've returned to after significant time away. I DID restart FF Tactics on PS1 after save-fucking myself near the end of the game. It took about a year to restart. And restarted Demon's Souls after losing 40 hours when lightning fried my system. That took roughly 2 years to begin again. I hope to restart Final Fantasy XIII-2 some day, but will need the emotional support of a strong partner to do it.

Waterfall shouldn't be too hard to get back into but it is so short anyway restarting would not be an issue. Can't speak for the rest but what is Dead Nation like, almost sure I have that in my library? Worth a shot?

The thing about Matterfall though, is it's pretty tough, and requires mastery of fairly complex technique. It's one of the more difficult side scrollers I've ever played. I was in a nice ryhthm, and would have to get back into it. As you say though, it's a short one, which is a plus. Dead Nation, like Matterfall, is a Housemarque game, and maybe my favorite of all of them ( I own 10 of their games across PS3, PS4 and Vita ). It's a top down, twin stick shooter, where you play not only to pass missions, but also for score and money. You collect money to buy new weapons and gear, which you also purchase upgrades for. It's the game so nice I own it thrice, with plats in the PS3 and Vita versions. It's currently $15 on the NA PSN. It'll almost certainly be on sale at some point too. It also has a co-op mode, and while decent fun, I prefer solo.
