On the gaming PCs thing, I've seen very nice ones built (even with the new DX10 cards) for under $2000.
But that was my point. I know that a gaming PC is much more than $600, but both strike me as an unreasonably large sum of money to spend to play games, and I'd rather spend the $1000 extra for a gaming PC. I mean, I'll need at least an $800 or so computer in the next year or so for reasons aside from gaming, and I'd rather spend an extra $800 to $1000 on beefing it up than on a PS3. I've just never seen consoles as the place for cutting edge games - my friends who are big into PC games have always had something bigger and shinier - and that seems to be what the PS3 is trying to offer.
