There's a charm to games like Doom 2016, DMC 5 or the original Gears of War, who just toss you in the middle of the action, arcade style, while acknowledging the inherent manchild appeal/siliness at the core of videogaming.
Personally, I see Alpha Protocol is a fundamentally broken, derivative game, like Mass Effect Andromeda. Maybe you just dislike what most people like, and like what most people dislike. As I said before to other members ranting about popular games, that's perfectly fine and normal.
