45 minutes...wow  you are making me feel small. I just beat him, it took me at least 3 hours of attempts on him, Maybe four and had to explore the world inside and out to get everything I possibly could bar a few possible vitality upgrade so I could beat him.

He is now in the top five of the hardest bosses I've encountered in souls games and second only to the Nameless king in he length it took me to beat him.

lol, well there will probably be some other boss that ends up being the bane of my existence which everyone else finds trivial. :P

It might be due to the number of upgrades I'd acquired at that point. I know I had two damage upgrades (memories), and I think 6 healing waters. It only took a few attempts to get the first phase of the fight down, but I found it extremely difficult to recover and heal after he switches form. I'd start healing and he'd jump attack me before I could get the heal off, and I died several times because of this.

How well do you feel you've been exploring? I've scoured every inch of every area and branching path, and the exploration in most cases is rewarded very well. Also, I progress through the areas in the order the game presents them to me in the "Travel" menu. The exception is Hirata Estate, but I explored it anyways as when I prayed at that shrine and warped there, I was expecting it to be a short memory of some sort, but it just kept going.

There certainly aren't many games that grip me the way every single Souls game has done. I can't wait to see what they do next.
