I'd have to see numbers before I believe it is actually a lot.  It just seems like self-imposed redundancy.  If you are already online, why wouldn't just buy from the store you have to go to anyway to enter the code.  I highly doubt the prices are going to be any different.  I know they definitely wouldn't be from physical retailers.

If the prices weren't different, the sites wouldn't have a business model to exist in the first place... Not only are there several sites doing this, there is enough money in it for a site to exist that simply compares prices between said sites.

I'd say that the numbers are substantial. Numbers can't be provided, just common sense.
