How many people actually buy digital codes for full games in retail stores, though? I see why people would buy set dollar amounts, but full games? Seems awfully pointless, especially when you have to go to the online store to even buy the game, anyway. And if that game is on sale, do you get any kind of refund?

A simple google search would show multiple online stores of codes let alone stores. So... Like me, probably quite a lot of people.

Here's a site that complies a few of the sites and compares prices.https://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/catalogue/category-playstation-4/

This is a site that I frequently use as well as cdkeys.com

I'd have to see numbers before I believe it is actually a lot.  It just seems like self-imposed redundancy.  If you are already online, why wouldn't just buy from the store you have to go to anyway to enter the code.  I highly doubt the prices are going to be any different.  I know they definitely wouldn't be from physical retailers.
