The generational leap in CPU power will be massive, really massive; I'm expecting 8-10X, according to the different scenarios; and this will be the biggest advantage of Next Gen.

CPU boost from PS3 to PS4 was modest, so I'm expecting much more improvements in the AI, physics, system collision, interactions with the environment, animations, Gameplay, etc.

I was playing FarCry5 yesterday on PS4, and though it looks sweet, and play cool, you notice immediately the big limitations on the CPU side and the lack of more sofisticated environment interaction : you can go through vegetation and small trees like it was fresh air :D  the simulation is non-existent in some cases, and from what I remember, it's a step back compared to FarCry4; in order to increase a bit the level of details and overall graphics and other things, Devs had to tune down part of the system collision(give me a break if I'm wrong, but this is what I noticed).

So, I'm very excited about the fact the CPU in the Next Gen will be much more powerful; I do care about better graphics, and we will have of course, but I'm looking for the Next Gen Factor, and the clear sign that Next Gen has arrived.

There was a boost??? <.<

The Cell in the PS3 has 1 PPE + 8 SPEs, which combined, from what I know,  has a higher peak theoretical FLOP capability than the "8 Jaguar cores" on PS4; but consider that the SPEs of PS3 Cell were used to help a much less sofisticated RSX, the "GPU". The PPE was really underwhelming at general purpose code, it was just very weak, typical code would spend several cycles per instruction on average. It had really serious problems with weak branch prediction + huge mispredict penalty, high taken predicted branch penalty, big load-hit-store penalty, large L2 hit and especially miss latency, etc.(this is from a tech discussion). The SPEs weren't really useful for general purpose code at all since they were stuck running with 256KB RAMs, most of the code that was executed on them was well suited to GPUs. Which is a big reason why PS3 games weren't really much ahead of XBox 360 games, those SPEs were often making up for the weak GPU and doing things that XBox 360's GPU could manage directly. So much of the sort of code people ran on the Cell SPEs would be ran on the GPU instead on PS4. For the remaining stuff the Jaguar CPU is a good improvement.
