It has to do with the political climate we face in the world today. When a game like God of War gets picked apart for being "too masculine" or Zelda Breath of the Wild is bashed by feminists for not having a female Link and saying that Zelda is just a damsel in distress (despite the fact that she is the one person keeping Ganon sealed for 100 years, making her more of a badass when you think a out it), I am not suprised thay devs are walking on egg shells.
All forms of censorship is bad in my eyes. I just feel like the wrong people are being blamed for it.
