According to my calculations, by the 7th week of 2018, the Nintendo Switch had sold through approximately 11.474054% of its total yearly sales in Japan. If the same percentage were to hold for this year, the Switch, in Japan for the year 2019, would sell 5,214,251 units. Considering the software lineup Nintendo currently has planned, the chances of them selling these many units is more likely than unlikely, I would say.

Given the software coming out later this year, I think Switch will sell at least 5.5m in Japan and probably more.  I mean, their software line-up already looks strong based on NA and European standards.  Now add Dragon Quest on top of that.  Switch is going to have a hell of a year in Japan.
