Yeah... That's how beekeepers mark them. So that they can easily recognise their queen.

I don't think you'll find a lot of wild bees with red dots on their back.

Yer i was reading that. What is interesting a bumble bee queens lives like a year only. A smaller honey bee up to 5 years and some other species less than that.  

Ants are even more interesting as most species if the queen dies they will die eventually.
