I have a 2 TB Laptop hardrive in my PS4 Pro. Boots up almost instantly. I think your problem with the XB1X may be that you are using externals. But then again I don't own an XB1X so...

Xbox was always slower, the x is no different. Boot up and install times are still horrible.
