People need to understand what graphical changes are coming. The only, ONLY, reason leaps won't be as massive, at a time, is because of affordability. For them to truly give you those leaps again (you can get them, trust me, y'all have not seen anything even close to the ceiling), you need more expensive hardware. You aren't going to get a wildly massive jump from PS4 to PS5 (that you may have with the PS2 to PS3 ~ which, by the way, also had to do with a resolution jump), but it will be big enough to justify moving on.

You're alot more optimistic than I am. You're right though; as time goes on for a current gen console, video game graphics become more refined due to developers having spent more time with the consoles hardware. (Killzone Shadowfall & Horizon Zero Dawn for example) And it won't be any different with the PS5.

However...

I'm not excited with lengthier development times which WILL be the case (as it's always been) with PS5 and X2. There's always a trade off/hidden cost with games that "can" have extra fidelity/detail into character models and such. Unless of course said company hires more people to offset and balance out the turn around time for those graphical enhancements. (tessalations for example) But that's almost never the case because companies would rather save the money and just shovel on more crunch times for it's work force.
