I think its more based on economics. If Metro Exodus sells poorly on the PC then he believes that it would mean Metro 4 (or whatever) is then less likely to have a PC version. The lost profit arguement you use only works if the game actually turns a profit on the platform. If a potential boycott causes a loss then that's what they have to go off.

Honestly, I really don't get the fuss about Metro not being on Steam. Epic will be creamed if they didn't invest in their store when they're up against a competitor as dominant as Steam. Microsoft did the same in the early days of the 360 to try to syphon off some of the PlayStation base.

I don't want to have to use use yet another Launcher, especially not one with very dubious privacy and lacking in features to boot. And I'm by far not the only one with that feeling.

Honestly, if Epic wants to compete, they should do so by offering more and better features and deals compared to Steam, and not by trying to buy exclusivity, as that will only drive them away. Just see how "well" Windows store is faring, I know many who opted to buy an XBO just to avoid having to use it.

I do understand that the statement is based on economics, but my god, it would have sold well for sure (the previous ones did at least) without pulling out of Steam. But with that stunt, I'm not sure it can anymore. 3 of my friends played the previous games, but they will leave out this one out of spite for pulling out of steam at practically the last second.

Just to clarify, having read through this thread, I understand the 'fuss' (as I put it) a bit better now.
