Proof that 1 is Equal to .999999999........!

Actually you screwed up right there (right in the beginning too lol). 1/3 is not exactly .333333

 

 

The "......" is supposed to indicate that it continues on forever. I'm looking for a way to disprove this too, but I'm too tired right now...

He's essentially saying 1 = .99999 with an infinite number of nines.  It does but it doesn't.  It's confusing.

 

You can't disprove it. You can prove 1/3 = 0.33.. by long division:

3/1.000000000000

1/3 = 0 carry the 1

.

10/3 = 3 carry the 1

10/3 =3 carry the 1

10/3 = 3 carry the 1....
