Yeah, with Sony out they can definitely push a strong narrative without much of a response from Sony. MS will probably be pushing Gamepass and other MS exclusive things that usually get smothered and overlooked by quality games from other E3 shows. Heck MS could team up with EA together to push a very strong narrative for their future vision of a home console without any blowback from Sony and their narrative.
