The two main things that bug me about this game are the RNG elements with zombies, and well, the zombies not staying dead. Nearly every other medium out there that deals with zombies has respected the old style play of "bullet to the head", even those like 28 days later, or the Walking Dead. Capcom on the other hand, refuses to adhere to the logical rule of thumb that the undead have had going for decades. See BLizz at least follow some logic when it comes to mythical creatures like Orcs and Wisps, yet Capcom doesn't want to and instead thinks that's a good idea, when in reality it isn't, it just ruins the core element of survival horror, especially since no conservation of ammo will help you do away with many of the undead.
I noticed this during the demo, and while it was neat to hear a zed that I killed 15 mins ago, now getting up and groaning again was cool, but now playing the full game, man does it get super annoying to waste a lot of ammo on head shots, when the reality of just cutting their legs and arms saves you on ammo and does a better job. How could Capcom screw something like that up?. Why does slicing the arms and legs become superior to just 1-2 bullets in the head?. The funny thing is, many of Resi's boss fights ended with either a rocket launcher to the face, or a single cinematic bullet to the head. It just ruins all logic when they choose to go back and forth with "bullet to the head kills them, but doesn't when we don't want it to".
The other thing that gets me is the magic of Tyrant 003 being ruined, simply because Capcom couldn't code an AI to actively wander about on it's own. That recent glitch video just shows us that the AI is tethered to us, very much like rubber banding, which helps the AI, but not us and I honestly loathe that. I really am getting fed up with the lack of developing decent AI. This entire gen has revolved around nothing but bullet sponging, or AI that knows exactly where you are, a swell as being both tethered to you, and having catch-up mechanics.
Game is good for sure, but things like poor AI and RNG bullet sponging simply ruin some aspects of the game for me.
I hope next gen consoles allow for a massive ramp up in AI development, because I'm sick of low level brainless AI, that needs to be hooked to you and cheat to remain somewhat threatening/competitive.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
