This is crazy to see. Big price reductions, but we're now in the 6th year of the platform being out. I would expect price cuts to help, but not create a craze like this.

Ps4's non promotional price has incredibly remained quite high the last few years. So there's way more room to make price cuts then consoles traditionally had in the past.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the ps3 in it's 6th year was cheaper then the ps4 and it would have been way more costly to make. Sony are milking the ps4 hardware for profit and who knows if they'll drop the price to $199 WW to enter it into a new category of consumers while the rest are targeted by the ps5.

You are right.   The 12GB model was at $199 in NA and 199 in Europe in 2013; I think after August 2013 though. And the production cost was higher.  PS4 is massively more profitable than PS3, and Sony is holding back the price cut to keep the profit very high and 'cause is still selling very good; they will hold the ace up their sleeve until a boost is needed.

Sony this generation did all perfectly, congrats to them !
