100%, yes. The first Trails of Cold Steel game was the first game to crack my top 10 in over a decade. The battle system is excellent, and there is a ton of dialogue. But, it's meaningful dialogue, and a lot of people will actually say that the dialogue is the biggest strength of the series (I don't know if I'd go THAT far, but it is good). It does, at times, feel like it's been a while since you've been in a battle. But, I myself kind of self-impose some of that, because I feel the need to go around and talk to each and every NPC, every single time they have something new to say. NPCs actually live their lives, so you can see random nobody's story unfold on the side, just by talking to them over and over as events unfold.

Of course, if that sounds boring to you, you can simply not do that, and just move on to the battles/actual story scenes.

I've played both Trails of Cold Steel-games and the first two Trails in the Sky-games and I can honestly say they are some of the best JRPGs I've played over the last decade. All of them are well worth getting, so obviously my answer is yes. Trails of Cold Steel III is pretty much my most anticipated game at the moment. Just know that all of the games are quite story heavy at times with a lot of dialogue.

Absolutely YES! Great battle system and ost, fantastic scenery and level designs epic. Every character is a stereotype but very well written. As for the free day it only occurs a few times in the 1st game, once a week on your school day off. You get 3 or 5 bonding points to bond with your classmates or teacher of your choice and do 3 simple side quests. After that you have to explore the a dungeon in the old schoolhouse and that will advance the time of the free day to evening.

Yay some "big" answers! :D

So basically everyone is saying yes, even people who haven't played it, but seems like a very hard "YES!" from the people that HAVE played them...

Here's a question; Since it's a "lesser known" JRPG series... does that mean it has all the cringe generic lewd anime stuff in it? Because that stuff really isn't for me, lol.

Nothing lewd. You cant even upskirt any of the female characters even though they all have short skirts. Just some funny interactions here and there for example there was a dungeon with plenty of ladders and chests. one of the character asked the classmate with big boobs aint shes tired of climbing or someone saying always happy to put my hands on anothers chest or during swimming competition the main character thinking if swimsuit had feelings, that would be the happiest piece of fabric
