https://www.pcgamer.com/atlas-admin-account-compromised-used-to-spawn-planes-tanks-and-giant-whales/
Atlas, the pirate-themed MMO from Ark: Survival Evolved, can't seem to catch a break. Yesterday, someone managed to gain access to an admin's Steam account and wreak havoc across the Official NA PvP network.

https://www.pcgamer.com/nightdive-wants-to-talk-to-disney-about-remastering-star-wars-dark-forces/
Nightdive Studio, which remastered games like System Shock and Turok for PC and is currently working on the System Shock remake, wants to help in our hour of need. The studio's CEO Stephen Kick took to Twitter a couple of days ago to express interest in giving a remaster treatment to 1995's Dark Forces.

Totally Reliable Delivery Service is a ragdoll physics game about terrible drivers
https://www.pcgamer.com/totally-reliable-delivery-service-is-a-ragdoll-physics-game-about-terrible-drivers/
Totally Reliable Delivery Service is a game about a delivery service that is actually not totally reliable. It's not as realistic as it first sounds, though, because it's also about ramping golf carts off of buildings, riding rockets into the sky, landing flying body presses from the other side of town, and injuring yourself in myriad horrific ways.

Star Control: Origins is back on Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/star-control-origins-removed-from-steam-after-dmca-takedown-notice/
The designers of 1990 MS-DOS game Star Control have issued a DMCA takedown notice against Star Control: Origins, Stardock's RPG reboot of the series. The game has been removed from Steam and Stardock expects it will be removed from GOG, too.
Update: More than two weeks after it was removed, Star Control: Origins is back on Steam. It's not known what changed to enable the game's return, and Stardock CEO Brad Wardell said on Twitter that he's not able to discuss the matter publicly.
Star Control: Origins currently remains unavailable on GOG, however. I've reached out to Star Control creators Fred Ford and Paul Reiche for comment, and will update if I receive a reply.

Warframe dev says cross-play is 'one of the highest-risk things we can do'
https://www.pcgamer.com/warframe-cross-play/
During a Warframe developer livestream on Twitch, one viewer asked whether Warframe, which recently launched on Switch and is consistently one of the biggest games on PC, would ever have cross-play. Considering Warframe's MMO-style of progression and community, being able to play on the go or with friends on other consoles is an obvious boon for PC players. But the reality, creative director Steve Sinclair explains, is very complicated.

Overcoming alien goo in full 3D looks great in Creeper World 4 trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/overcoming-alien-goo-in-full-3d-looks-great-in-creeper-world-4-trailer/
Creeper World is probably one of the more niche real time games series out there, a series about overcoming an endless tide of world-devouring alien goop. Despite the rudimentary visuals, they’re a wonderful games about trying to overcome the dual challenges of an enemy that never stops coming and the logistics needed to fuel a war machine that can never stop fighting.

Use machine learning to talk to a cat in While True: Learn()
https://www.pcgamer.com/use-machine-learning-to-talk-to-a-cat-in-while-true-learn/
Just released this week is a doozy of a game concept from Luden.io that’s picking up pretty positive user reviews. While True: Learn() will have you puzzling together neural networks using actual machine learning techniques. There’s a story about your cat, too, which is apparently a better machine learning specialist than you—so you set about making a cat to human translation software.

Space dwarf co-op shooter Deep Rock Galactic lays out 2019’s new features and updates
https://www.pcgamer.com/space-dwarf-co-op-shooter-deep-rock-galactic-lays-out-2019s-new-features-and-updates/
It has been a bit since we peered down the mine shaft at co-op, Left 4 Dead-like shooting and mining experience Deep Rock Galactic, but it’s still chugging along (and still a pretty good game) without us. Like a vast spoil heap beside the space mines, Deep Rock just keeps accumulating features and updates, and it doesn’t seem like the developers have any intention of stopping soon. In fact, it’s clear they don’t, as a recent post lays out their intentions for an upcoming anniversary update and difficulty rework. Further, the post hints at updates and features to come later this year.

Meeple Station wants to be Rimworld on a space station
https://www.pcgamer.com/meeple-station-wants-to-be-rimworld-on-a-space-station/
New management and building game Meeple Station has a cool premise for those who’ve sunk hundreds of hours into colony builders like Dwarf Fortress and Rimworld: space stations. (It’s me, for the record. I’ve sunk the hundreds of hours in.) Meeple Station is a new game from Regions of Ruin developers Vox Games and released into Early Access this week. In it, players manage a space station from nothing to thriving enterprise by mining, trading, growing hydroponic crops, generating power and life support, and exploring uncharted star systems.

Magic: The Gathering Arena update fixes its duplicate cards problem
https://www.pcgamer.com/magic-the-gathering-arena-update-fixes-its-duplicate-cards-problem/
One of Magic: The Gathering Arena players’ biggest gripes is no more after Friday’s update, which both added the new Ravnica Allegiance card set to the game and implemented alternate rewards for players who receive a fifth or greater copy of a rare or mythic rare card.

Guess the prices of website names in this hilarious browser game
https://www.pcgamer.com/guess-the-prices-of-website-names-in-this-hilarious-browser-game/
Cybersquatting used to be something the internet really cared a lot about, but now that it’s managed mostly by corporations (who still charge you exorbitant prices for clutch names), we don’t care as much anymore. Well, we care when someone registers a goofy name like elderscrollsvihammerfell, or what have you.

Disjunction is a pretty cyberpunk game that crosses Deus Ex and Hotline Miami
https://www.pcgamer.com/disjunction-is-a-pretty-cyberpunk-game-that-crosses-deus-ex-and-hotline-miami/
Disjunction is my most surprising new game of the year so far, a cyberpunk stealth action game with a solid art style and some pretty good writing, at least by the standards of such things. After playing the alpha demo, I would say that it’s like if Hotline Miami and Deus Ex had a baby. It inspires quite a bit of confidence in first-time developers Ape Tribe Games.

New Layers of Fear 2 trailer reveals creepy boat setting
https://www.pcgamer.com/new-layers-of-fear-2-trailer-reveals-creepy-boat-setting/
Revealed in October, Layers of Fear 2 is the sequel to a horror game James described as "an intriguing experimental haunted house". But if you're hoping this second instalment will also feature a house, then maybe you'll be disappointed: a new trailer appears to confirm that it'll be set on a grandiose boat.

Ring of Elysium brings BMX and grappling hooks to battle royale
https://www.pcgamer.com/ring-of-elysium-brings-bmx-and-grappling-hooks-to-battle-royale/
Ring of Elysium, a recent free-to-play addition to the increasingly crowded battle royale genre, straddles the unique overlap between extreme sports and to-the-death combat. While players have thus far been limited to slinging guns on snowboards and snowmobiles across a single snow-covered map, "season two"—which launches January 16—moves the action to warmer climes.

Treyarch confirms Black Ops 4 Blackout's next limited time mode
https://www.pcgamer.com/treyarch-confirms-black-ops-4-blackouts-next-limited-time-mode/
Following a leak through Call of Duty's companion app, Treyarch has confirmed that 'Ambush' is the next limited time mode coming to Black Ops 4's Blackout.
The leak was apparently spotted on the Call of Duty companion app and captured by Reddit user carkeys11 and posted to Reddit. According to the screenshot, Ambush will only give players the choice of sniper rifles and melee weapons, meaning the Skulker and Dead Silence perks will be 'a lot more valuable.' Outlander will come into its own too because apparently, 'once the circle starts collapsing, it never stops.' Yikes!

Fortnite's Ice Storm event brings huge changes to the map
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnites-ice-storm-event-brings-huge-changes-to-the-map/
A huge icy orb appeared in Fortnite, at the beginning of last week, hovering above the Polar Peaks, and many guessed it was the part of the live events leading up to Season 8. They were right.
