I honestly wouldn't want to see gens becoming longer, because that leads to stagnation and some games being held back for reasons related to base and mid level hardware.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
